Towards Knowledge Societies, Business Opportunities and International Exchange

The international development community has recognized the role of ICT for knowledge-driven empowerment and economic growth, most prominently in the context of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and in Goal 8 of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). At the national level, the German Government has identified ICT as key enablers to increase impact in different development areas, such as education, health, private sector support and good governance.

Within this framework, InWEnt contributes its particular competencies – capacity development and international dialogue - to foster and sustain local applications of ICT for development purposes.

We believe that education, life-long learning, and exchange through national and international networks of expertise are key to achieve inclusive yet diversified knowledge societies worldwide. Up-to-date and relevant knowledge, as well as constant adaptation and innovation assume an important role in our world of rapidly changing technologies, societies and economies, powered by ICT.

Our focus, therefore, is to strengthen local professionals through skills-building and networking. Competent local actors are empowered to create new business models and ICT-enabled social initiatives, which ultimately lead to knowledge-driven social and economic development at the national, regional, and global level.
