Newsticker: November 5, 2004: The next African generation
- it@ab upgrade II twelve months training program in Germany 2004/2005 started in October 2004.

October 2004, A new it@inwent website has been launched for the latest InWEnt project it@coops. The project conducted on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is focusing on poverty reduction by supporting Asian cooperatives with IT tools.

September 2004: A second group of 17 it@ab consultants finished a one year training programme in Europe and left for home. Final fare well ceremonias were held in the German Parlament in Berlin.

So far 27 multipliers from it@ab members particpated in the training programme in Germany. A next and final group of 20 participants is expected in Germany for October.

September 2004, InWEnt has developed a new Database on Open Source Technologies. This source offers detailed information and evaluation on a wide variety of open source products for allmost any demand.

August 2004: A new e-learning programme on "Webpublishing" has been launched. Like all e-learning modules the Webpublishing module is under a open conten license. This liscense allows our partner in the South to use the software for free, to copy it, to change it and to further develop it.

April 6 - April 7 2004: it@ab election for the management board

From April 6, 00:00 hours to April 7, 24:00 the members of the it@ab will elect the new Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson. The election will be conducted virtually under the observation of InWEnt. Three candidates for the position of a chairperson and three candidates for the position of the Vice Chairperson started their camapaign on the virtual collaboration platform CLE (www.cle2.it-inwent.net).

April 6, 2004: First Virtual Annual Meeting of the it@ab network

From April 6 to April 7 around thirty it@ab members from seven SADC states will have their annual meeting. For the first time the meeting will take place virtually over the Internet. The members will use a special internet based it@ab-collaboration platform called CLE (Collaborative and Learning Environment) for this event.

March 6, 2004: New it@ab constitution launched.

During a workshop in Windhoek conducted from Mach 2-6, 2004 it@ab delegates from seven SADC countries have launched a new network constitution. …..more

February 17, 2004:Trend to move towards standard solutions

The application of standards is one of the driving factors for industries. Ralph Bartel, one of the experts involved in it@ab and it@asia acrivities introduces the SCORM standard for e-learning. more

February 09, 2004: Bernd Schleich, Managing Director of InWEnt gives keynote on the occassion of the opening of the International Learntech Forum (ILF) in Baden-Baden. more

February 3, 2004: A one-year lasting training programme for it@ab consultants will be conducted in Germany starting on October 1, 2004. Junior consultants from it@ab partners with university degree in it and at least two years of practical experience are requested to provide applications to ict[at] inwent.org

February 2, 2004: Next Workshop for Senior Managers and decision managers of the it@ab network is scheduled for March 2 - 6, 2004

February 2, 2004: InWEnt is preparing a new it project in the Middle East. The project is intending to stimulate cross border cooperation and networking. We are looking for parter organizations (Universities, Internet Providers, Internet Application Providers, IT-Training institutions, IT consultancies, Trade Promotion Organizations) in Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Palestine. February 1, 2004: InWEnt coorganizes the International Learntecforum 2004 that will be conducted in Baden-Baden, Ettlingen and Karlsruhe February on 9 - 13, 2004.

January 20, 2004: it@ab partner organizations from five African countries provide proposals for Worldbank/infodev "incubator initiative"
