The ict@innovation programme, a partnership between FOSSFA, OSISA

and InWEnt, is engaging with African experts in curriculum and

course development to participate in the creation of training

materials on Free and Open Source Business Models.

The co-editors will form the core of the ict@innovation content

creation community. On the basis of their experience, they will

contribute to producing high-quality training materials on the

subject of FOSS business models for African contexts. The effort

will be started with a workshop taking place around January 2009.


During this three-day workshop, you will develop the basis of a

FOSS business models curriculum together with experts from

UNU-MERIT and AITI-KACE. You will use your experience to ensure

that the training materials will take a hands-on approach based on

practical, real-case scenarios.


After the workshop, you will play an active role in the ongoing

open and collaborative process to refine the training materials.

This process will take place online. While the training materials

will continue to evolve, you will make most of your contributions

until March 2009.

BACKGROUND - THE ICT@INNOVATION PROGRAMME


The objective of the ict@innovation programme is to foster small

and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the field of ICT in Southern and

Eastern Africa capable of providing adapted applications and

services to the public and private sector. The focus is on

Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) as a key technology to drive

innovation, add local value and foster development-oriented and

affordable ICT applications. The improvement of regional

networking and strengthening of consulting capacities of ICT

associations and training institutions as well as of other

relevant change agents will be key vehicle of the programme.


As a part of the ict@innovation programme, a consortium of

UNU-MERIT and AITI-KACE has been contracted to organise the

collaborative development of hands-on training materials on FOSS

business models for African contexts. This consortium is now

organizing the call for experts in curriculum and course

development to participate in the creation of training materials.
